I don’t believe
in beauty
and I’ve left my thoughts of love
I send my prayers to a god
but not the one above
because I believe the devil
is all that runs this world
it certainly his oyster
and he’s taking
all the pearls
now I once saw a woman
she was such
a work
of art
she walked away
so lovingly
took only
half my heart
how kind I am
she thought
as it slowly
ripped apart
so generous
to leave me with
what she should have taken
from the start
because love given reluctantly
with one foot out the door
can make a rich man miserable as any starving poor
when one loves another, they must do so all the way
cuz only half a bicycle, will get you nowhere, any day
planting half a seed, won’t get you half a tree
and digging half a well, as well, is pure futility
giving half a performance
won’t win half an award
and you cannot remember
a fact you half ignored
so let me please remind you
of what this poem is about
this half-assed world
is devilish,
when love
comes stained
with doubt.
